In Kissimmee Florida there was a Chinese themed scenery park named Splendid China that used replica miniatures of famous Chinese buildings and scenes. . It opened in 1993 but due to poor tourism and public protests about there inaccurate portray of Chinese history eventually closed the park in 2003. I didn't go in due to high security and a $500.00 fine, but it has been a popular place for skateboarders who like to tear it apart.

It has been torn down to make way for a Roller Coaster, but before demolition they allowed people to walk around and veiw what was left. The tracks have been sold to an amusement park in Pennsylvania.

I've been near here before. Through the darkness. First step, the tightrope suspended over the demon's heart and the pits of blood. The word "jehovah" etched on tiles that might flip and send you down and you lose. Light as a feather I lead our group over the myriad misspellings and safely to the other side. We descend to the blood pools and massive throbbing hearts. She's riding a horse and leading another, my bike splits the blood and sends thick ripples out. We come to the room of tunnels, various people waiting to distract you with their televisions. Blue pipes out of Mario Bros in the corners. The one filled with garbage is our exit; stand in the junk and sink through, then falling through litter of popcorn, candy, sprinkling sodas, fall fall fall keeping nausea and the fear at bay, down onto pillows in a padded room. Three other groups have made it; one is a birthday party of 56. Our cat freaks out about the people and climbs a wall, all the way up to the ceiling. Thumps and thuds behind the walls indicate the employees are preparing the finale. We're called to some tables. The birthday party people are admonished for taking up more tables than they need, but they're being dicks about it and won't consolidate. Wake.

I don't know if this book counts as a novel. The only thru-character is a fiction oral history archivist working for the UN, and he deliberately keeps his own contributions to this collection of interviews to the absolute minimum.
So far (I'm on page 230 of 339), the author doesn't have all that much to say about zombies, but he has an enormous amount to say about governments, their relationships to the citizens, and how they respond to threats and crisis.
The research that went into this book is mind-blowing. The interviews are collected from people on all continents, and I get the impression that the research that might provide a credible cultural context and setting for an entire novel went into the preparation of a single 5 page vignette. One after another after another.
And it has zombies.
I hope to re-read this book. I think that about most of the enjoyable books that I read, but it almost never happens. I think there is a higher possibility with this book than with most.
Frakking incredible!

Fear on the grass and ice standing a tall. Things that like to bite but they are one thing imitating many: The Thing, remember? They devour and regurgitate themselves as a new form. Aliens evaded, climbing the standing pipe now they run after. Safe inside, don't let them bite. A handshake? Don't trust me or anyone. Don't let the reflection stare to long. Death in mistrust and death in trust. We fear each other. Through the glass they're coming. wake

strigana87. I loved her spider pic, and by luck saw this guy outside on my porch last night. Don't know what species this is, but what I like about it is that you can really see his/her "face."
Many people in this community post better macro photos, but the detail in this is OK, and you can see the nailheads to get a sense of its size.
