open letter to the vegan who lives down the street:
dear sir or madam:
although i appreciate the sentiment on your bumper sticker ("bare feet not arms"), i would like to point out that your SUV's need for fossil fuel *might* be contributing to some foreign policy choices that have stirred up a bit of ruckus in sw asia. plus, with you being vegan, you might want to think about that carbon (5lbs/gallon, yo) you drop on the way to the co-op to buy that free-range tofu. i'm just saying, you know?
in other news:
school is offically done for the year. ahh.
i wrapped up my computer info sys final at 10 after six this evening, came home, drank some lodi syrah, et some baked pesto chicken and veg (prepared by the ever-awesome
gwynny), and settled down to catch up a backlog of email.
massive burnout set in this semester. i fought my english term paper to the bitter end. i have this suicidal (and hyperbolic, apparrently) need to tie literary criticism and esoterica together. this time around, i managed to get lovelock's gaia hypothesis, the avatamsaka sutra, and gary snyder's reinhabitation to make nice together. the thing kept trying to fly apart (buddhist paradox tends to do that to academic writing) but finally came together. it was a right bitch.
this was followed by last-minute papers on post 9/11 energy policy vis-a-vis national security, and a paper on US foreign policy during the cold war.
fuck school. and fuck carbon. well, fuck extraneous, non-sequestered global warming carbon.
no cuts. scroll like its 1999, fuckers.
